Mariners, Athletics will travel the most miles in 2015

Teams in the West will travel the most miles in the MLB this upcoming season.

The Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics will both travel over 40,000 miles this upcoming season.

Seattle and Oakland, according to Baseball Savant, will be the only teams to break the 40,000-mile mark over the course of 162 games this season. Eight of the 10 teams with the most miles to travel will come from either the AL or NL West divisions, with the Florida teams taking the other two spots. 

The biggest traveling advantage goes to the Cincinnati Reds, who will travel 20,612 miles, less than half of the Mariners' 43,281. Being in the middle of the country has its benefits: Teams from the AL or NL Central make up the nine smallest travel distances of the season.
