Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig reinjured his strained left hamstring in a rehab game on Friday and is headed for an MRI exam.
Puig, who went on the disabled list on April 26, was playing in a minor league game for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes when he pulled up early while running to first base in the fifth inning. He hit a home run earlier in the game.
Puig is eligible to come off the DL on Sunday and the Dodgers were previously expected to activate him for Monday's game against the Miami Marlins in Los Angeles.
Puig has missed 18 of the Dodgers' 29 games. Over the 11 he played, Puig hit .279 with two home runs, four RBIs and an .845 OPS.
The Dodgers' second game of the weekend series with the Colorado Rockies was postponed on Saturday. Los Angeles entered the weekend atop the NL West at 19–10.
