The Pittsburgh Pirates turned a rare 4–5–4 triple play in the second inning of Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park.

After Jhonny Peralta walked to lead off the top of the second, Jason Heyward doubled to left-center. With runners on second and third, Yaider Molina lined the first pitch he saw to Pirates second baseman Neil Walker for the first out of the triple play. Walker then threw to third baseman Jung Ho Kang to get Peralta out at third before catching a return throw from Ho Kang at second to get Heyward.

That kept the game scoreless going into the bottom of the second, when the Pirates scored three runs to break the game open.
