The Miami Marlins have fired manager Mike Redmond and bench coach Rob Leary, the team announced Sunday.

The announcement came immediately after the Marlins lost 6–0 to the Atlanta Braves, who completed a sweep. Miami was nearly no-hit by Atlanta's Shelby Miller.

Redmond was hired as Miami's manager in November 2012. At the end of the 2014 season, the club signed him to a contract extension through 2017.

After going 77–85 last year, the Marlins have started this season 16–22. Miami went 155–207 with Redmond at the helm.

In April, the Miami Herald reported that Redmond was on the hot seat and that the team's front office was already looking around for possible replacements.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported Sunday evening that Jeff Conine will be the team's new manager, and retracted the report less than an hour later.

Redmond's replacement will be officially announced at 11 a.m. ET on Monday.
