The San Francisco Giants have placed outfielder Hunter Pence on the disabled list with left wrist tendinitis, the team announced Friday.

Pence has not played since aggravating his left wrist making a diving catch on June 2. The Giants had been holding off on making a decision on whether to send him to the disabled list or not, however manager Bruce Bochy said Thursday that the team would make a call on Friday.

San Francisco called up right-handed pitcher Mike Broadway from Triple A to take Pence's spot on the roster.

Pence began the season on the DL with a fractured left forearm and did not make his season debut until May 16. In 18 games this season, he's hitting .282 with two home runs and 13 RBIs.

The Giants (34–27) are in second in the NL West and host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.
