Albert Pujols hits three HRs as Angels sweep Red Sox in doubleheader
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols is red hot, hitting three home runs on Monday in a doubleheader against the Red Sox and edging teammate Mike Trout for the major-league lead with 29.
Pujols also passed Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidt for 15th on the all-time home run list with the third blast of the day, his 549th.
Pujols now trails only the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez in career home runs among active players.
The Angels won 11–1 and 7–3, respectively, after their scheduled game on Sunday was rained out. It was the first Angels home game postponed due to rain since 1995.
