One day after the Colorado Rockies traded him, Troy Tulowitzki hit a home run in his first game with the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.

After striking out swinging in his first plate appearance—Tulowitzki batted in the leadoff spot for the first time in his major-league career—he came to the plate in the bottom of the third after Ryan Goins singled.

On an 0–2 count, Tulowitzki hammered an 88 mph sinker from Philadelphia Phillies righthander Jerome Williams into the third deck at Rogers Centre to give the Blue Jays a 2–0 lead.

The home run was the third of his career at Rogers Centre.

Tulowitzki added two doubles later in the game, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored in the Blue Jays’ 8–2 win.

Tulowitzki hit .300 with 12 home runs, 53 RBIs and an .818 OPS in 87 games with the Rockies this season. He spent the first 10 years of his career in Colorado, making five All-Star Game appearances and hitting .299 with 188 home runs, 657 RBIs and an .885 OPS entering Wednesday.

In exchange for Tulowitzki and reliever LaTroy Hawkins, the Rockies received shortstop Jose Reyes and three minor-league pitchers from the Blue Jays.
