The San Diego Padres have signed pitcher Bud Norris, who was released by the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, the team announced Tuesday

Norris, 30, was designated for assignment by the Orioles last week and released after the team did not work out a trade. He has posted career-worst number in nearly every major statistical category this year. Norris has a 7.06 ERA, 1.643 WHIP and .309 batting average against in 66 1/3 innings.

The Orioles are still on the hook for the rest of Norris’s salary, minus the prorated portion of the league minimum the Padres will cover.

The Padres have a team ERA roughly equivalent to the league average but they play in a notoriously hitter-friendly ballpark. Their staff park-adjusted ERA+ is the third-worst in the majors.
