Rodriguez's sixth-inning solo shot to leftfield off of Kevin Gausman was his 30th of the year. Rodriguez tied the game at 1–1 and tied Hank Aaron for the most 30-homer seasons of all time, the homer marking Rodriguez's 15th such campaign.
At 40 years and 43 days old, Rodriguez also became the second-oldest player ever to hit 30 home runs in a season. Darrell Evans, at 40 years, 115 days, is the oldest.
