The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Kansas City Royals on Friday night 14–8 with the help of two grand slams in the bottom of the eighth inning.

As the Orioles trailed with one out in the eighth, Nolan Reimold crushed a pitch by Franklin Morales to give the Orioles an 8–6 lead. The offense started rolling.

Later in the inning, Steve Clevenger notched his first career grand slam off reliever Joba Chamberlain.

With the shot, the Orioles became the first team to accomplish the feat multiple times in franchise history as they previously did so in 1986. The Mets were the last team to hit two grand slams in one inning with Cliff Floyd and Carlos Beltran in 2006.

In 1999, Fernando Tatis hit two grand slams in one inning off Los Angeles Dodgers starter Chan Ho Park.

While the Royals lead the American League Central by 10 games, they have dropped six of their last seven games.
