Rays centerfielder Kevin Kiermaier eclipsed 100 mph with a no-hop throw from the outfield during Thursday’s game against the Marlins.

As measured by MLB’s Statcast technology, Kiermaier’s throw to home plate to nab J.T. Realmuto was clocked at 100.4 mph and traveled 232.8 feet.

The Rays hung on for a 4–1 win at Tropicana Field, with Kiermaier’s throw allowing Tampa Bay to escape from a two-out situation with runners on first and second. Ichiro Suzuki lined a hard-hit single up the middle, and it was immediately clear there would be a play at the plate with Realmuto and Rays catcher J.P. Arencibia.

MLB said Statcast had measured five previous throws this season from Kiermaier at 95 mph or faster, including one at 99.1 mph. Thursday’s resulted in his 15th outfield assist.

At the plate, Kiermaier finished 3 for 4 with a double.

In his second MLB season, Kiermaier is batting .265 with 10 home runs, 40 RBIs and a .715 OPS.
