The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Chicago Cubs4–0 to take Game 1 of the NLDS in St. Louis thanks to a strong outing from starting pitcher John Lackey.

Lackey carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, and finished his night after 7 1/3 scoreless frames, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out five.

Matt Holliday’s RBI single to shallow right in the first inning started the scoring for St. Louis, which added three in the eighth on home runs by Tommy Pham and Stephen Piscotty.

Cubs starter Jon Lester was charged with the loss, allowing three earned runs over 7 1/3 on five hits while striking out nine.

Game 2 gets underway from St. Louis on Saturday at 5:37 p.m. ET.
