After a three-run seventh inning by the Astros had the Royals staring elimination in the face during Monday’s ALDS Game 4, Kansas City rallied for five runs and took a 7–6 lead. The Royals eventually hung on for a 9–6 win to force a decisive fifth game in Kansas City

Back-to-back home runs by Carlos Correa and Colby Rasmus gave the Astros a four-run lead in the seventh but the Royals started the next with five straight singles and scored two runs. A fielding error by Correa allowed two more runs to score, tying the game.

The Royals took a 7–6 lead on a bases-loaded groundout by Alex Gordon that allowed Eric Hosmer to score.
