J.A. Happ signs three-year, $36 million deal with Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed starting pitcher J.A. Happ to a three-year deal worth $36 million, the team announced.

Happ, 33, previously pitched for the Blue Jays from 2012 to ’14. He recorded 19 wins in three seasons and before being traded to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for outfielder Michael Saunders.

He finished last season with an 11–8 record with a 3.61 ERA in 31 starts between the Mariners and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He finished the year with a 7-2 record and 1.85 ERA in the last two months of the season for Pittsburgh.
