The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced they will wear throwback uniforms from 1979 for Sunday games during the 2016 season, the team announced.

The uniform is made up of a gold pullover jersey accompanied with black pants & a Pirates pillbox cap. The beltless pants have black and gold piping on the sides.

Winter Report Card: Pirates fall short in lackluster off-season

The Pirates' 1979 kit was one of six uniform that were worn between a stretch from 1977-1979.

The uniforms brought the Pirates luck that year, as Willie Stargell and Dave Parker led the Pittsburgh to their fifth World Series title. The Pirates haven't won the World Series since 1979.
