ESPN has terminated the contract of broadcaster Curt Schilling, following an anti-transgender Facebook post on Tuesday.
ESPN released a statement on the matter Wednesday night: “ESPN is an inclusive company. Curt Schilling has been advised that his conduct was unacceptable and his employment with ESPN has been terminated.”
The meme Schilling posted was later removed from his Facebook page, and he wrote a blog post dismissing criticism and defending his opinions. He has a history of insensitive online behavior and was suspended by the company last August after a controversial tweet involving Adolf Hitler.
Schilling was at the center of a recent controversy after comments he made about presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Schilling, 49, is a former All-Star pitcher and World Series champion.
