Washington Nationals starter Joe Ross exited Wednesday night's start with a blister on his right middle finger, the team announced.

It may be early in the season but Ross entered Wednesday night's start against the Miami Marlins ranked third among National League starters with his 0.61 ERA.

JAFFE: Strasburg, Harper lead hot Nats

Ross finished last season with a 5–5 record in 16 starts with a 3.64 ERA.

Yusmeiro Petit replaced Ross.

The Nationals won 3–1.
