Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez exits game with hamstring injury
New York Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez left Tuesday’s game against the Orioles with a hamstring leg injury, manager Joe Girardi confirmed.
After grounding out into a double play in the fifth inning, Rodriguez was not able to run all the way to first, instead pulling up and grabbing the back of his leg. Rodriguez jogged off the field, but Dustin Ackley pinch-hit for him during his next at-bat.
Amidst the Yankees’ recent struggles, Rodriguez has played well of late. He entered Tuesday batting over .400 in his last six games, with five home runs on the season overall.
Rodriguez has already battled with leg injuries this season, missing two games last week because of an oblique injury. He will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine if a disabled-list stint is necessary.
