The Yankees have placed Alex Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring, the team announced on Wednesday.

Rodriguez left Tuesday’s loss to the Orioles after tweaking his hamstring while running to first in the fifth inning. After the game, manager Joe Girardi confirmed that Rodriguez would go for an MRI.

Amidst the Yankees’ recent struggles, Rodriguez had played well of late. He entered Tuesday batting over .400 in his last six games, with five home runs on the season.

In a corresponding move, the Yankees recalled reliever James Pazos from Triple A.

The Yankees are 8–16 entering Wednesday's game against Baltimore.
