Orioles third baseman Manny Machado charged the mound against Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura on Tuesday, throwing a punch and inciting a scrum.

Machado charged the mound after being hit with a pitch in the bottom of the fifth, with the Orioles leading 5–1. Machado and Ventura had exchanged words during Machado’s previous at-bat, then Ventura hit Machado with a 99-mph fastball, leading to the fight.

Both benches cleared as a result of the altercation.

Machado and Ventura were both ejected after the fight. After the ejections, Mark Trumbo and Chris Davis hit back-to-back home runs for the Orioles.

Baltimore went on to win the game 9–1.
