Jonny Gomes was absolutely devastated to learn that he would not be invited by the Royals to the team’s trip to the White House this year.

Gomes, who played just 12 games with the World Series champions and was left off the postseason roster, apparently thought he had a chance to be there.

“I’ve been sent down. I've been non-tendered, whatever,” Gomes told Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal. “But this is probably the worst news of my professional baseball career.”

Gomes, of course, wore the greatest blazer in American history to the White House after Boston’s title in 2014.

It’s a shame we won’t get to see what Gomes would have done for a sequel.

So yeah, this is more devastating than the news that Gomes was cut by the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles earlier this year.
