The Giants have traded for Brewers reliever Will Smith, the team announced Monday.

Minor league catcher Andrew Susac and pitching prospect Phil Bickford are headed to Milwaukee in the deal.

Smith pitched mostly in the seventh and eighth inning for the Brewers, recording a 3.68 ERA in 22 innings. He did not make his season debut until June after he injured his knee while pulling off a shoe in March.

Smith, 27, is under team control through 2019.

Bickford, 21, was a first-round draft pick last year and has a 2.71 ERA in 17 Class A starts this season.

Susac, 26, saw time as the Giants’ backup catcher last season but returned to the minors this season.
