Braves trade infielder Erick Aybar to Tigers

Tuesday August 16th, 2016

The Tigers have acquired infielder Erick Aybar from the Braves, the team announced.

Detroit will send infielder Mike Aviles and catcher Kade Scivicque to Atlanta in exchange.

Aybar, 32, is batting .242 with two home runs and 26 RBIs this season playing primarily shortstop for the Braves.

The Tigers remain in the playoff race and add Aybar for infield depth, with regular third baseman Nick Castellanos sidelined until September.

Detroit also recalled outfielder Steven Moya.
