Blue Jays starter Marco Estrada lost his no-hit bid against the Mariners at Safeco Field on a Robinson Cano single up the middle in the seventh.

Estrada, 33, had thrown 79 pitches through six hitless innings, striking out eight and walking two. He was aiming for the second no-hitter of the 2016 season; the last came on April 21 when Jake Arrieta no-hit the Reds. It would have been the second no-no in Blue Jays history, after Dave Stieb threw one in 1990.

The nine-year veteran was named to the All-Star team this year and had a 3.78 ERA in 157 innings across 26 starts entering Monday.

The Blue Jays led 3–0 heading to the bottom of the seventh.
