Bill Murray gave a random Cubs fan a World Series Game 6 ticket
Die-hard Chicago Cubs fan Bill Murray gave another Cubs fan a thrill of a lifetime after he gave a woman an extra ticket to Game 6 of the World Series.
Evanston, Ill. native Karen Michel says she went to the Progressive Field box office before Game 6 in hopes of getting lucky and buying a ticket to the game. When she found that the game was sold out, Michel walked away, but then noticed Murray walking by and followed him out of curiosity.
"He turns around and says, 'Here, here's a ticket,'" she said to MLB.com. "And he kind of shuttled me into the door. I thought it was just a ticket to get in. But it was a ticket to sit right here."
"I watched five games at home and they're showing Eddie Vedder, [Chris] Chelios, whatever, and I'm like, 'I wonder if I'll see any of those people,'" Michel said. "Of course now, I'm here, and I see all kinds of people."
Vedder and Chelios happened to be sitting a couple of rows in front of Murray and Michel. NBC meteorologist Al Roker can be seen in a picture posted by MLB.com seated behind the pair.
Michel said she and Murray talked about growing up as Cubs fans during the game.
"I asked, 'When you went to the Cubs game, who did you go with?'" Michel said. "He said his brother and his father. I have all sisters, and me and my dad would go to the baseball games. We talked about stuff like that."
Game 7 is Wednesday night as both teams look to break decades-long frustration in winning a World Series title.
