When does MLB Free Agency Start?

Although the games are over, the MLB offseason is sure to be busy.

The Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games to win the 2017 MLB World Series on Wednesday.

However, although the games are over, the fun is just beginning. For fans of the 29 other teams, the offseason is a chance to gear up to take down the defending champions and win that elusive title. For Houston, a vigorous title defense is about to begin. They will need to keep pace with the rest of the league in order to repeat.

The first step of the offseason, free agency, began at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, the day after the World Series ended. Players can now seek new contracts through free agency, but teams still have five days to submit qualifying offers to their free agents. Big name free agents include Jake Arrieta, Yu Darvish, JD Martinez, Todd Frazier, Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas.

After a highly eventful playoffs, teams will look to focus on building their clubs with a 2018 championship on their minds.
