Yankees to Evaluate Aaron Judge’s Injured Hip on Monday

In the midst of a losing road trip, the Yankees are still awaiting an update on the status of injured slugger Aaron Judge, who hasn’t played since Thursday while dealing with a strained hip. With the team finishing up its series against the Rangers on Sunday, Judge remained out of the lineup and will undergo further evaluation on Monday.

“I know he came in feeling a little bit better today,” manager Aaron Boone said Sunday, per the Associated Press. “I’m sure he’ll go through everything, and we’ll evaluate where we are.”

Judge suffered the injury on Wednesday when he landed awkwardly while sliding into third base. He was in the lineup the following day but was removed mid-game following his second plate appearance. Boone is hopeful that the hip strain will not require a trip to the injured list.

After dealing with injuries from 2018 to ’20—a run in which he missed a combined 142 games over three seasons—Judge has been durable of late, playing in a total of 305 games over the previous two years. In 26 games this season, the reigning American League MVP is batting .261/.352/.511 with six home runs and 14 RBIs.
