A’s Release Jaw-Dropping Renderings of $1.5 Billion Proposed Stadium on Las Vegas Strip

Baseball fans eagerly awaiting the Athletics’ eventual move to Las Vegas were in for a treat Friday, with the reveal of the first renderings of the A’s proposed $1.5 billion stadium.
As plans for the move continue to be finalized, the A’s released a glimpse into the site plans for the new stadium, which is set to be located at the site of the Tropicana Hotel on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. The first-look renderings offer, in jaw-dropping detail, a look at the expected 30,000-seat stadium, complete with a retractable roof, that is set to be built at the site.
The dazzling pictures also showcase the stadium’s beautiful Strip-facing view looking out from home plate, as well as its expected proximity to the renowned MGM Grand.
While the A’s still have a few hurdles to clear with building the stadium, Friday’s release suggests all involved parties are confident with plans moving forward. A’s president Dave Kaval confirmed as much in a statement issued along with the renderings, where he expressed excitement in the ongoing development.
“We are excited to share our vision for the A’s potential new home. As our first conceptual design, we will continue to refine the look and feel of the ballpark over the next year,” Kaval said. “We hope our project goes beyond a traditional ballpark and serves as a catalyst for community development and engagement. It follows in the footsteps and success of the professional sports teams that come before us, in creating union jobs, stimulating economic growth, and fostering investments in the community.
The A’s anticipated relocation would mark the end of the team’s long tenure in Oakland, which began in 1968 after a move from Kansas City. Earlier this month, the club and Bally’s Corporation reached an agreement on building the stadium, news that came a little over two weeks after the A’s agreed to purchase 49 acres of land at Dean Martin Drive and Tropicana Avenue—with the intention of dedicating nine acres to their new home.
