Derek Jeter to Make Fox Studio Debut for Cardinals-Cubs London Series

When Fox announced it had hired five-time World Series champion and Yankees legend Derek Jeter as the newest member of its broadcast team, it signified a major domino in the sports media landscape. Now, the face of the sport for a generation’s much-anticipated debut for the network has an official launch date.

Jeter will premier as a studio analyst during Fox’s broadcast of the upcoming London Series game between the Cubs and Cardinals on June 24, Fox announced on Wednesday. He will be joined in the studio by host Kevin Burkhardt, David Ortiz and former Yankees teammate Alex Rodriguez.

Jeter spent his entire 20-year career for the Yankees, compiling a resume that made him a first-ballot Hall of Famer and one of the most iconic players the game has seen in decades. A 14-time All-Star and MVP of the 2000 World Series, he became the CEO of the Marlins following his retirement, a position he held until early ’22. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in ’20.

Jeter’s Fox debut will be the culmination of a years-long pursuit by the network to land the beloved former Yankee captain, who had previously not expressed an interest in broadcasting after his playing career ended. His participation in the seven-part ESPN documentary series, The Captain, played a role in his eventual shift, along with his positively received appearance on Fox’s Game 3 broadcast from last year’s World Series. During his appearance, executives were impressed by his chemistry with Ortiz, and made it a priority to bring Jeter into the fold.
