Shohei Ohtani Breaks Babe Ruth Record With Latest June Home Run

Another game on the MLB calendar simply means Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani breaks yet another record held by one of baseball’s greatest players.

The 2021 American League MVP added to his major league-leading home run tally when he crushed a fastball from White Sox reliever Kendall Graveman over the left-center field wall for his 29th of the season.

In the process, Major League Baseball fans witnessed more history as Ohtani's 14th home run in the month of June helped the Angels star surpass Babe Ruth for the most homers by a player who also started a game as a pitcher in the same month.

Ohtani has used the torrid pace of hitting .394 with 14 home runs and 28 RBIs in the month of June to pass the Bambino in incredible fashion.

Despite the historic moment, the two-way talent’s two-run ninth-inning blast was unable to prevent the Angels from losing their second straight game to Chicago. The 9–7 loss dropped the Halos to 22–18 at home this season and 44–39 on the year.
