Yankees Calling Up Top Prospect Jasson Dominguez, per Report

The Yankees called up their No. 2 prospect, center fielder Jasson Domínguez, on Wednesday ahead of their series against the Astros, per MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch.

Also known as “The Martian,” Domínguez originally wasn’t projected to get the call up to the majors until the 2024 season. But, that timeline has apparently changed.

The 20-year-old just started playing for the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre team last week. In his first game with the team, he recorded a hit in three of his six plate appearances. In his nine games with the team, he averaged .419/.514/.581 with six runs scored and 13 hits.

Domínguez slashed .254/.367/.414 with 15 homers and 19 doubles during the 109 games he played in Double-A this season.

The Yankees are also calling up their another top prospect Wednesday—catcher Austin Wells. The 24-year-old is expected to join the team for the Astros series, along with Domínguez.

The two young players will be crucial help for a struggling Yankees team. Ahead of Wednesday night, New York is 64–68 and last in the American League East.
