Phillies’ Nick Castellanos Jabs Reporter After Making MLB Postseason History

Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos made MLB history Thursday night by becoming the first major league ever to hit multiple home runs in consecutive playoff games.

Castellanos played a pivotal role in Philadelphia’s victories in Games 3 and 4 of the NLDS, and now the Phillies are in the NL Championship Series for the second consecutive season after a 3-1 series victory over the Braves.

After the historic performance, Castellanos was interviewed on the field by Matt Winer of TBS, and the outfielder made the most of his airtime when he playfully jabbed Winer for not asking him a question.

“Nick, nobody in major league history has hit two home runs in back-to-back postseason games, but you just did, and you guys are heading to the NLCS,” Winer said.

After a brief pause, Castellanos looked at Winer and responded.

“Where’s the question in that?” Castellanos asked.

“There’s no question,” Winer replied, as both smiled.

“Thank you for telling me,” Castellanos said.

“I thought you’d be happy with that,” Winer added.

Castellanos hit solo homers off Atlanta’s Bryce Elder and AJ Smith-Shawver on Wednesday. Then he hit two solo shots off Braves ace Spencer Strider on Thursday.

The awkward exchange with Winer put a bow on a successful week for Castellanos, who likely will need to continue to play a pivotal role if the Phillies want to return to the World Series.

Game 1 of the NLCS against the Diamondbacks begins on Monday at 8 p.m. ET at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
