Pirates' Jared Jones Had Brewers Batter Looking Foolish With Devastating Strikeout

The Pittsburgh Pirates may just have a budding star on their hands in rookie pitcher Jared Jones. He provided evidence of that during Monday's outing against the Milwaukee Brewers, as he was delivering some truly mesmerizing pitches, including a jaw-dropping strikeout on second baseman Brice Turang.

Jones sat down Turang with a nasty, knee-buckling slider that left the infielder sitting in the dirt and shaking his head after failing to check his swing.

The slider had plenty of bite to it as it zipped across the zone and ended up running well inside on Turang. That late movement caught him by surprise, however, and he'd already begun to swing before the realization that he was facing a pitch that was simply impossible to hit.

Jones didn't have any doubt as to whether Turang was able to check his swing, as the right-hander was already half strutting off the mound and halfway to the dugout by the time officials ruled the batter out.

MLB fans were mesmerized by Jones's otherworldly slider, and they had plenty to say on social media after his impressive strikeout.
