Jo Adell Returns to Anaheim: Top 5 Moments From His Angels Career

Angels fans have followed Jo Adell since he was signed as a first round pick out of high school. From tracking his progress on the top prospect charts to watching him struggle then succeed at the MLB level, fans have ridden the emotional roller coaster with the slugging right fielder. And tonight, for the first time, they will see Jo Adell wearing a new uniform.

Elite Outfield Defense: Legendary Home Run Robberies

A standout wide receiver in high school, Adell's ability to cover ground and high point baseballs was a joy to watch. In looking for the definitive Jo Adell highlight moment his game in April of this year is the obvious choice. Adell showed his hops when he robbed the first two home runs of the evening then his range and concentration on the third.

Three home run robberies in one night is an incredible feat. Over the years Adell pulled back more than his share from over the fence. But on this night he was simply unreal.

Easter Sunday Walk Off 2025

Trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the 9th inning against San Francisco, the Angels looked assured of another loss. But a walk to Trout was the start of a rally that kept on going. With one out and the bases loaded, Zach Neto took a fastball to the breadbasket that cut the deficit to 4-2. And in stepped Jo Adell.

With he count 1 and 2 Adell lined a double down the left field line and cleared the bases. Zach Neto narrowly beat the throw home to secure the winning run. On a perfect Sunday afternoon for baseball, Jo Adell sent the home crowd home happy.

Two Home Runs in One Inning

2025 was a breakout year for Adell who finished with 37 home runs. Two of them came in the same inning against the Tampa Bay Rays. These were the first and second dingers in what was a career year Jo.

Adell does not hit cheap home runs. When he squares up a ball it travels far and fast. The first dinger went 408 feet with plenty of hang time. The second travled 20 feet less but in a hurry. Two home runs in an inning is incredibly rare. Two hit this hard in the same frame is truly remarkable.

Carrying the Angels to a Walk Off Win in His Final Days

Hosting the right before the trade deadline, the Angels were staring at an ugly 0-48 record when trailing after eight innings. Adell single-handedly carried the team back. First, he smashed a solo home run in the 3rd inning to break out of a massive 0-for-24 slump.

In the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded and the game tied, Adell stood his ground against All-Star closer Riley O'Brien. He took a 96.7 mph sinker directly to the body for a walk-off hit-by-pitch, securing a thrilling 3-2 victory. It was the ultimate "win by any means necessary" moment that showed his grit right before the Cleveland Guardians traded for him on August 3.

Countless Acts of Kindness and Class

Anybody who has spent time with Jo Adell will say the same thing, he is all class. Jo has always had a maturity beyond his years. As a 20 year old prospect he asked kids their name and spoke to them as he signed autographs. He started a charitable foundation with using his signing bonus money.

Every year he speaks to at risk youth about the importance of staying in school; lessons engrained by having educators as parents. He appreciates the fact that kids looks up to athletes and is cognizant of how he acts when in the public eye. Making a positive impact on the next generation is a life goal and daily exercise for Jo Adell.
