Angels News: Phil Nevin Sends Bold Message to MLB After 4th Straight Series Win

In this story:
The Los Angeles Angels are on fire. They've won four straight series and have jumped into into second place in the AL West and hold a wild card spot. It's been quite the turnaround from the start of the season for the Angels and they are rolling. This is what the team envisioned when they paired up Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani together and they may finally be reaping the benefits.
Manager Phil Nevin talked about his teams success and how the two players work well together.
“You can’t win games with just two guys,” Nevin said, “but I think if there were any two back-to-back in this league that can do it, it’s those two that can carry a team for quite a while. … When your superstars step up in big places, it gives everyone else around a lot of confidence. We know we can compete with anybody.”

Nevin is right in saying that they can compete with anyone. Los Angeles has gone 7-3 over their last 10 games overall and are playing as well as they have in years. It's an exciting time for the Angels, especially with the impending free agency of Ohtani coming up this winter.
The team went and prioritized pitching this past offseason and while the Angels arms aren't world beaters, they have been solid. One of which is Tyler Anderson, who signed with the team after a career year with the Dodgers last season.
“When I’m not pitching my best, which I haven’t been, just try to give us a chance to stay in the game,” Anderson said.

Anderson did just that on Sunday and the Angels took advantage. This is an extremely confident squad, as Nevin talked about. They are playing some of the best baseball across the entire league and opposing teams are noticing. The Angels are in the thick of the playoff race and that's all anyone can really ask for.
