WATCH: Braves play a little Home Run Derby in the first inning against Minnesota

Twins starter Joe Ryan ain't foolin' nobody so far as Atlanta cranks tater after tater

Joe Ryan has been a good pitcher so far this season for the Twins, but he's having a first inning to forget at Truist Park tonight. After Ronald Acuña Jr. deposited his first pitch of the night into the Braves' bullpen, fans barely had a chance to catch their breath before a full-scale onslaught began.

Two-hole hitter Ozzie Albies laced a ball into the gap in right-center and took advantage of some subpar effort from the Twins' defense to leg out a triple. Austin Riley followed, and he wanted all four bags.

Riley scorched a 1-1 middle-in heater into the seats in left at over 100 mph. So after starting the game homer, triple, homer, the Braves finally saw a man retired when Matt Olson struck out. But the onslaught was not over.

Sean Murphy, back in the lineup for his second start since tweaking his hammy a week and a half ago against Colorado, worked a 2-1 count and got...you guessed it...another fastball. This bomb traveled the furthest of the three, 445 feet into left-center, for Murphy's 13th of the season. Ryan actually recovered and struck out the side from there, but the damage was very much done. The Braves now lead 4-1 behind Bryce Elder.

The game broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports South and is available on TBS and MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
