Braves Briefing: Atlanta snags elite prep star in latest MLB Mock Draft

As we get closer to July 9th, teams are looking for players that can be stars down the line in this year's MLB Draft.
In the latest MLB Mock Draft on MLB.com, the Atlanta Braves are projected to take Bryce Eldridge, a first baseman and right-handed pitcher from Madison High School in Vienna, Virginia.
Here's the breakdown of the pick at 24.
A legit two-way guy who nearly everyone likes as a hitter at the next level, Eldridge could very easily be long gone by now. The Braves could then consider Mitchell, Lombard or Head if they want to stick with a prep bat.
Almost every mock I've seen has Atlanta going after a high school bat instead of selecting a college star. Worth noting as the draft gets closer.

Dan Strickland of Braves Today tackled the coverage of Atlanta's 10th-inning rally to beat the Phillies on Thursday. In the win, Bryce Elder continued to impress.
Bryce Elder has been such a boost to the Braves rotation this year. Although he is young, he has pitched like an experienced veteran. Elder’s first-ever start against the Phillies was today, and he kept them off-balance the whole game. He looked great again today as he went seven solid innings of shutout ball. He struck out six and gave up just three hits.
Elder has been a steady presence and looked like a top-of-the-rotation pitcher all season for the Braves. The anticipated return of Max Fried in July will add additional depth to the Braves starting rotation.

How to watch the Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves, winners of eight straight, travel to Cincinnati to take on the equally as hot Cincinnati Reds, who have a long win streak of their own. It's only the fifth time since 1901 that two teams with active winning streaks of eight or more games have faced off.
Game one in the series is set for 6:40 PM ET, with RHP AJ Smith-Shawver facing off with Reds righty Luke Weaver. The game broadcast with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports Southeast and is available on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
