The favorite to win MVP continues to make his case.

Ronald Acuña Jr. hit a home run in his fourth game in a row to bring Atlanta within a run against the Texas Rangers.

The solo shot in the sixth came from a pitch from Nathan Eovaldi, who has been pitching as good as anyone in baseball.

Atlanta Braves vs Texas Rangers Pitching Matchup

Atlanta's sending Spencer Strider to the mound. He's 4-1 with a 2.51 ERA on the season, striking out a league-leading 79 batters in 46.2 innings across his eight starts with a 15.2 strikeouts per nine innings that leads all of baseball. He's faced the Rangers once before, going 3.2 innings in relief on April 30th of 2022 and striking out five, with no hits and one walk.

Countering Strider is righty Nathan Eovaldi. The veteran, in his first year of a two-year, $34M deal with the Rangers that could be worth up to $63M over three years if his conditional player option is exercised, is 5-2 with a 2.70 ERA across his eight starts. He's struck out 56 batters in his 53.1 innings pitched, with eight walks and only one homerun allowed. He's faced the Braves 15 times in his long career, dating back to 2011, and is 3-3 with a 2.82 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 92.2 innings. Four current Braves have hit homeruns off of Eovaldi, with Matt Olson (2), Marcell Ozuna (2), Kevin Pillar (2), and Travis d'Arnaud (2) all taking the veteran deep in their careers.
