Why Brewers — Not Dodgers or Cubs — Should Be World Series Favorites

The 2026 Milwaukee Brewers are for real and could very well go on a deep run this season.

Could this finally be the year that the Milwaukee Brewers make it all the way to the World Series and come away with their first title in franchise history?

There are five teams in Major League Baseball without a World Series title under their belt, including Milwaukee. While this is the case, Milwaukee has the pieces to go on a run this season. Milwaukee has the best record in baseball at 81-50 and has been consistently dominant in the regular season for years at this point. The Brewers went 81-49 through 130 games this season, which is the exact same record Milwaukee had in 2025 through 130 games. The Brewers have won three straight National League Central titles and are well on their way to No. 4.

Sure, there are questions around the team, specifically about their lack of power. Milwaukee has hit the fewest homers in baseball this season with 120. But this club knows how to win. One thing that should give Milwaukee fans hope is the fact that the Brewers have had success against the best teams in baseball. It's not as if the Brewers have had some sort of cakewalk of a schedule this season. Milwaukee has played 62 games against teams with a .500 or better record. In comparison, the Chicago Cubs have played 56 games against teams with a .500 or better record.

The Brewers Are Prepared For A Deep Run

When the Brewers have lined up against other teams with a .500 or better record, they have gone 41-21. In comparison, the Cubs are 33-23 against teams with a .500 or better record. That just goes to show how elite this Brewers team is.

They are 20 games above .500 against teams with winning records. When the playoffs get here, obviously you're only facing off against good teams. The Brewers have already shown throughout the 2026 season that they can beat the best.

With the playoff push coming, naturally there's been a lot of chatter about the Los Angeles Dodgers and their push for a third straight World Series title. Los Angeles is loaded, but it is 31-32 on the season against teams with a .500 record or better. The Dodgers have played one more game against teams .500 or better and have 10 fewer wins.

This Brewers team is loaded with pitching and has a few elite offensive weapons. They can make a real run.
