The Chicago Cubs dropped another game on Tuesday night in front of a very cold Wrigley Field crowd, losing 2-0 in the second game of the series against the Los Angeles Angels.

While the weather was brutal, it was not nearly as cold as the Cubs bats, who mustered a total of just four hits on the night with no runs. The performance has sparked a little bit of concern from fans who were hoping to see some more fireworks than the team has shown at this point of the season.

The newest big time addition from the offseason is of course third baseman Alex Bregman, who was 0-for-4 on Tuesday and outside of a two home run game has not done much of anything offensively through five contests.

Bregman spoke after the game and did not make any excuses for the offense's performance.

Bregman said Cubs did not play well enough to win

"I've played in hot, cold, all the way in between," Bregman said on the Tuesday night loss in the cold confines of Wrigley Field. "It's no excuse. We didn't play good enough today."

While accountability is not going to get Chicago a victory back against a team they would hope to sweep or at least take a series from, it is the kind of attitude that Bregman was brought to the organization for.

Leaders accept responsibility even when it's not completely their fault, and that's what Bregman is doing here. Ultimately, when the weather is still this cold, it will make for tough sledding on all players, and this team can turn it around.

After dropping the first series of the season to the lowly Washington Nationals, fans may start to get a bit antsy should another series be dropped to start the season against a team that Chicago should be superior to.

With Matthew Boyd back on the hill following his ugly start on Opening Day, the hope is that the Cubs will begin the process of getting things figured out before their first road trip of the season looms this weekend in Cleveland.

Chicago's offense needs to get things going because the pitching for the most part has not looked all that great to this point. It's still early, but March and April wins count just as much as September ones, and fans would love to see the Cubs start to collect some.
