Milestones that D-backs Players Could Reach This Season

Every season, there's plenty of players across MLB that reach notable career milestones such as 200 home runs, 1,000 hits, 100 saves, and so on. The Arizona Diamondbacks are no stranger to that either. This year, there's 10 players on the D-backs roster that have a shot at setting personal notable career achievements at some point during this 2024 season. Not all of these will happen, but a vast majority have a high chance of happening.

Christian Walker enters the season with 2,401 at-bats, leaving him just 99 shy of hitting 2,500. He's just 29 home runs away from getting to 150 home runs, of which 149 will have come as a member of the D-backs. As long as Walker stays healthy, 29 homers is well within grasp.

New Diamondbacks DH Joc Pederson enters the season with 186 home runs, 485 RBI, and 442 walks. That leaves him just needing 14 home runs, 15 RBI, and 58 walks away from reaching 200, 500, and 500 homers, RBIs, and walks respectively. Those are all easily attainable this year if he stays healthy.

While Randal Grichuk will start the season on the IL, he isn't expected to be out very long. That's good news as he's extremely close to numerous achievements. He needs 10 hits to reach 1,000 total hits and 15 total bases to get to 2,000. Plus, he just has to smack nine home runs for 200 career homers. That's in his grasp as he's hit at least 12 home runs every season since 2014.

Star second baseman Ketel Marte can reach four different benchmarks this season. He's just 10 hits away from 1,000 while only nine triples away from 50 for his career. He needs 80 RBI to reach 500 for his career and just needs 32 games played to get to 1,000.

New third baseman Eugenio Suarez needs four home runs to get to 250 for his career. That could happen before the end of April.

Fan favorite left fielder, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., needs eight home runs to reach 100 for his career. Plus, if he scores 11 runs, he'll reach 300. Both should happen before long.

This one was almost a lock before he got hurt, but there's still a chance that he could reach 100 saves is Paul Sewald. He has 68 saves and needs just 32 more. While that was a near-certainty before his oblique strain, it's at least possible that it could happen still.

Another injured player, though he shouldn't be out too long, is new lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. He needs to start four more games to get to 200.

Long-time starting pitcher Merrill Kelly is just 69 strikeouts away from 750 and needs to start 23 games to reach 150. Both of those likely to be achieved this season, health provided.

Potential fill-in closer, Kevin Ginkel, could hit three benchmarks this season. He's 36.2 innings away from 200. Also, he's 34 games pitched from 200 and 23 strikeouts away from 200. Considering he pitched in 60 games last year with 65.1 innings and 70 strikeouts, it seems likely he can hit those achievements.
