Ketel Marte on His Game, Home Run and More Against Dodgers

In this story:
Ketel Marte is quickly becoming one of the best hitters in the postseason in the history of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He helped lead the charge for the D-backs in their Game Three victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers by catapulting a pitch deep into the right field stands for a home run in the third inning. Marte is a leader on this young Arizona Diamondbacks roster and one of just two players left on the team from their previous postseason trip in 2017, Christian Walker being the other. Marte has developed into one of the best hitters in postseason baseball in recent memory.
Ketel Marte has a nine-game hitting streak in the playoffs, having hit in every game he's played in the playoffs since 2017. During those nine games, he has a double, two triples, three home runs, and six RBI, plus a stolen base.
He's been one of the engines of the surprising D-backs offense during this playoff run that has seen them go undefeated thus far. He has hit .318/.348/.636/.984 with four runs, seven hits, a double, two home runs, four RBI, a walk, and a stolen base in five games and 23 plate appearances.
Marte spoke with the media following their sweep of Los Angeles saying that he "feels good" and that "a lot of people didn't feel in us but the important thing for us is to continue to do the little things. We have an incredible amount of talent there."
Marte was the second player in the third inning to hit a home run off of Dodgers' starting pitcher Lance Lynn. Geraldo Perdomo was the first while Christian Walker and Gabriel Moreno were the third and fourth, respectively. When he was asked about how it felt to be a part of that, he said "It feels good. It doesn't surprise me at all. We have a lot of talent in that clubhouse. It's just time for us to win."
This wasn't the first time that Marte has played in a playoff atmosphere at Chase Field having played in the 2017 Wild Card and NLDS game that year. Ketel Marte said that he's played in that environment and "It was great to have that support. When you have that kind of support, that kind of crowd, it lifts up your spirits and gives you momentum."
Look for Ketel Marte to keep his hitting streak alive in the National League Championship Series on Monday against either the Philadelphia Phillies or the Atlanta Braves. He's a critical component of the D-backs recent success and they will continue to rely upon and each other.
