Dodgers Postgame: Kershaw Rocked, Nothing Goes Right Against the Diamondbacks

Clayton Kershaw had the worst start of his career and the Dodger offense didn't do anything in Game 1 of the NLDS.

At Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers suffered an embarrassing loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks to open the NLDS. Clayton Kershaw allowed six runs and retired only one. The Dodgers lost to the Diamondbacks 11-to-2.

The game opened with James Outman misplaying a flyball into a double that quickly led to the Diamondbacks’ first run after rookie Corbin Carroll doubled him home. Tommy Pham reached on Kershaw and Christian Walker had a 2-run double. Kershaw allowed a 3-run homer before he retired a batter. Kershaw doesn’t have his command as he allowed the sixth run of the inning.

Dave Roberts relieved Kershaw after he allowed six runs and retired only one. Emmet Sheehan got out of the inning. Sheehan allowed a solo homer to Corbin Carrol to open the second inning. Tommy Pham singled. Sheehan hit a batter. He allowed another run. On a sac fly, the Diamondbacks scored another run. Sheehan didn’t allow a run in the third. Sheehan retired the Diamondbacks in order in the fourth.

With two outs in the first, Will Smith singled but was left thanks to a spectacular catch by Walker. David Peralta doubled in the second and was left. Miguel Rojas opened the third with an infield single and Freddie Freeman walked, but they were left again. No one got on during the fourth.

To start the fifth, Shelby Miller relieved Sheehan who did a fantastic job. Miller was perfect in the fifth and pitched well in the sixth.

The Dodgers went quietly in the fifth and the sixth.

Michael Grove relieved Miller and allowed a solo home run to Alek Thomas.

To open the seventh, J.D. Martinez walked and was left.

Alex Vesia allowed a solo homer to Pham in the eighth.

In the eighth, Mookie Betts and Freeman walked, and Smith tripled in both.

Caleb Ferguson was perfect in the ninth before the Dodgers went quietly in the bottom of the ninth.
