In this story:

The Dodgers enter the offseason after being embarrassed by division rivals in their last two postseason appearances. They know that they underperformed, and want to make sure that it doesn't happen again.

The team seems very ready to be aggressive in upgrading the roster, both on the free-agent market and via trade.

Once again starter Corbin Burnes and shortstop Willy Adames are being proposed to the Dodgers in a deal. This time it's insider Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com putting other trade together.

Dodgers get: RHP Corbin Burnes and SS Willy Adames, Brewers get: INF Gavin Lux and RHP Emmet Sheehan

"Burnes and Adames to the Dodgers feels like a layup. It makes so much sense that it’s bound to … not happen. Such is baseball."

Per Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com

Landing an ace like Burnes would be a slam dunk for the Dodgers, and he would instantly bolster their rotation. The team has been searching for a front-line starter this offseason, and Burnes is one of the best in the league.

Adames would help shore up their infield and he provides solid power from the shortstop position. The two have been linked with the Dodgers all offseason, and many believe that LA will look to land them in a package deal.

Lux, a native of Wisconsin, would get the chance to suit up for his hometown team. He could give the Brewers a solid shortstop option going forward, but it could be tough to move on from him.

While he is on track to return in 2024 after suffering a major injury in spring training last season, the team doesn't fully know what to expect from him. They may be more willing to get a more sure player like Adames for next season.

Sheehan put together a solid rookie season for the Dodgers and his first few outings were as special as they come. He finished the 2023 campaign with a 4.92 ERA over 13 appearances, and 11 starts.

Sheehan showed that he could perform well at the big league level, and he could be a big trade chip this offseason. Milwaukee may be heading toward a rebuild, and having someone like him on the staff for years to come could be beneficial.

LA knows that in order to get talent this offseason, they will have to part with some good prospects. They want to do everything that they can to give themselves a better chance to win the World Series next season, and a move like this would increase the chances heavily.
