Guardians Erase Five-Run Deficit, But Fall 7-5 To White Sox As Win Streak Ends

Cleveland tied the game after falling behind 5-0 in the top of the first inning, but allowed a two-out, two-run double to Chicago seven innings later.

The Cleveland Guardians had their five-game winning streak snapped in a 7-5 defeat to the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.

This marks Cleveland’s first home loss of the 2024 season.

Logan Allen (ND) had a tough opening inning for Cleveland, surrendering five earned runs, five of his seven total hits allowed, and his only walk of the game. The Guardians trailed 5-0 after the top of the first frame.

But Cleveland began to chip away at its deficit early, as Josh Naylor hit a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to cut Chicago’s lead to 5-2. This gave the 26-year-old his second home run and sixth and seventh RBI of the year.

Allen then faced just 11 hitters over the next three innings, allowing two hits and throwing three of his four total strikeouts.
