Bauer Wins Ninth Straight Start, Indians Win Eighteenth Straight Game With 3-2 Win Over Orioles; Three Takeaways From The Victory

CLEVELAND- The Cleveland Indians are definitely on a roll.
The Cleveland Indians extended their franchise-record winning streak to 18 games tonight after defeating the Baltimore Orioles 3-2. Not only did they win the series, but they also swept the Birds.
With today's win, the Indians are now 31 games over .500 with a record of 87-56 and currently 39-29 at Progressive Field.
Here are the three takeaways from tonight's win.
1. Bauer's Start
The right-hander earned his 16th win of the season going 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits.
Before leaving the game, he allowed a solo home run to Chris Davis to cut the lead to 3-2.
2. Insurance Runs
With the score all tied up at one in the sixth inning, the Indians hit back-to-back home runs, as Roberto Perez and Francisco Lindor hit the home runs for the Tribe.
That put the Indians up for good. Though Trevor Bauer gave up a homer the next inning, the bullpen did a nice job keeping the lead in their favor.
Perez finished tonight's game going one-for-two and Lindor went two-for-four.
3. Winning Streak
Cleveland's current 18-game winning streak is the longest in the majors, of course. In the franchise's longest winning streak, the Tribe is currently tied with the 1953 New York Yankees team.
Also, the Indians' Magic number is seven and the team also moved one full game ahead of Houston for the best record in the American League.
