Indians topple Angels 3-0 behind Kluber's complete game; three takeaways

CLEVELAND-- The Cleveland Indians topped the Los Angeles Angels 3-0 on Saturday night to get themselves back into the win column.
Tribe ace Corey Kluber threw his first complete game shutout of the season, earning his 14th win of the year. Los Angeles starter Felix Peña matched Kluber early, and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning that was eventually broken up by the newest Cleveland Indian, Leonys Martin.
The Indians are 2-3 against the Angels this year, and will look to tie the season series at three games apiece in Sunday's rubber match. Until then, here are three takeaways from Saturday's victory.

1. Martin breaks up Peña's no-hit bid
Through five innings, the Cleveland Indians put up zero hits versus L.A.'s Felix Peña. That changed in the sixth frame when Leonys Martin stepped to the plate.
Martin took Peña's 3-1, two-seam fastball and sent it over the center field wall, giving the Tribe a 1-0 lead and ending Peña's no-hit bid. It was Martin's second homer as an Indian, and this is the fourth time in his career that the outfielder has homered in back-to-back games. He has now hit safely in all three games he's played in since the Indians acquired him at the deadline.
Martin's homer finally gave Cleveland some offensive momentum. In the next at-bat, Francisco Lindor recorded a double, and Michael Brantley brought him home with an RBI single. After Jose Ramirez lined out, Peña's night was over after 5 1/3 innings.
2. Kluber tosses a gem
The reigning AL Cy Young winner pitched a complete game shutout on Saturday, giving up just three hits and one walk while striking out seven.
It was the seventh complete game shutout of Kluber's career, as well as the club's fifth complete game. Kluber is now 4-1 against American League West opponents this season with a 1.80 ERA, the fourth lowest mark against that division by any pitcher.
As a team, the Indians have now recorded 11 shutouts, tied with Boston for the most in the American League.

3. Lindor stays hot
Francisco Lindor was part of the Tribe's sixth inning rally, recording his team-high 35th double of the season. That double marked his 63rd extra-base hit of 2018, the second most in Major League Baseball behind Jose Ramirez (64).
Lindor also continues to lead the American League with 94 runs scored. That's the most by any Indians player through 109 games since Roberto Alomar had 95 at this time during the 1999 season.
Along with putting in the offensive work, Lindor had the defensive play of the game in the top of the sixth inning, making an incredible bare-hand grab to throw out Justin Upton at first base.
