Carrasco deals. Offense Struggles. Tribe Falls 3-2 in extras

Toronto- The Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays met Friday night for the second game of their weekend series, the Blue Jays were able to even things up with a 3-2 win in 11 innings. Carlos Carrasco did everything he could to make sure the Indians had a chance to win this one late, striking out 14 Blue Jay batters. Friday nights performance was the 5th time in his career that Carrasco struck out 14+ hitters, including his second time versus Toronto.

The Indians offense on the other hand was quite most of the night, besides a few fireworks in the 5th and 6th innings. The runs were courtsey of the 97th RBI on the season for Jose Ramirez in the 5th and Yan Gomes home run in the 6th.

The Indians defiantly had their chances Friday night, but were not able to capitalize. There were numerous opportunities in which the Indians had runners in scoring position with less than two outs but they failed to take advantage.

Continue on for three takeaways from the Blue Jays 3-2 victory over the Indians...

1) Road Warrior

Carlos Carrasco was on fire tonight, across the eight innings he pitched he not only struck out 14, but he also only walked one batter to go with 6 hits. So in other words it was not all that simple to get on base for the Blue Jay offense.

If you follow the Indians closely Carrasco having success shouldn't surprise you. On the season Carrasco has been rather good this season regardless of where he has pitched, but has actually been slightly better away from Progressive field.

As you can see his numbers are just slightly better on the road this season. While it may not seem like a big deal to the average fan, this is the type of stuff that could affect the Indians starting rotation come the postseason.

2) Defensive lapse

Tonight's game went into extra innings, and it never really had to. Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco gave up one run across the eight innings he pitched, problem was the defense gave up another.

The Indians defense had two errors Friday night, which was the 73rd and 74th on the season respectively. While the Indians are a top 10 defensive team in the league, you can't have these mistakes allow runs. Especially when these game could have been over in the scheduled nine innings.

3) Goodnight Everybody

The 11th inning was an eventful one, only problem was the wrong team took advantage. The Indians were able to get the bases loaded in the top half of the inning with Jose Ramirez at the plate when he grounded out to end the inning.

The Indians actually had two guys on with no outs before Rajai Davis hit a bunt back to the pitcher to allow Toronto to get the lead runner. Unfortunately the 11th wasn't the only wasted opportunity for the Tribe, but it did prove to be the most costly.

Brad Hand pitched great in the 10th inning, and again to start the 1th as he got the first out before Terry Francona made the switch. Hand pitched 1 1/3 innings with four strikeouts, but Tito warranted a change. While you can question the switch all you want, Adam Cimber has been good for the Indians. Cimber likes to leave the ball low in the zone, but he left the ball low and over the plate. It just happened to be where Kevin Pillar wanted it, as he ended things with a deep shot to left center.
