1. Carrasco Looks to Stay Hot
RHP Carlos Carrasco has been pitching very well in the month of July, going 4-0 throwing a total of 18 innings, allowing just six earned runs and 14 hits overall.
Before the All-Star break, Carrasco had one inning of relief verse the New York Yankees that earned him a victory, and he's right now in a solid rhythm.
In his last start, he went 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits in a Tribe 16-3 blowout win over the Rangers in Arlington.
2. Getting to Fiers
The last time the Indians faced Mike Fiers, they lit him up, as he went just four innings, allowing four earned runs, and two home runs.
The 33-year-old might be throwing his last game for the Tigers, as there's been rumors of teams interested in his services as the trade deadline nears.
The Indians took advantage of a favorable strike-zone and timely hits in the last meeting, and will look for the same this evening.
3. Don’t Let the Defense Dictate the Outcome of the Game
Since the All-Break, the Tribe has struggled defensively, making all sorts of mistakes that have come back to bite them.
Whether it has been failing to turn a double-play, not throwing a base stealer out, or even making a failed attempt in the outfield, you name it, the Indians have struggled in that area.
It has cost them dearly, and if the Indians can clean up the mistakes, they can easy play at an extremely high level.
