2024 Guardians Spring Training Players Of The Game: Game 13

Cleveland's Ramón Laureano, Estevan Florial, Daniel Schneemann, and Shane Bieber each played well in the team’s eventually canceled game against the Oakland Athletics.

The Cleveland Guardians had their first 2024 Cactus League cancellation in an unfinished 2-1 game against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday afternoon. Since the game was canceled due to rain, its stats will not count.

With 90 players representing the Guardians during spring training (40-man roster, 22 non-roster invitees, and 28 depth camp players), each game’s roster will vary.

Based on Cleveland’s roster for Thursday’s game and their performances in the contest, here are four Players of the Game.

Ramón Laureano, RF

The Guardians outfielder had a game-high two RBI, recording at least one RBI in his third consecutive game.

With one out in the top of the third inning, in what turned out to be the final at-bat of the day, Laureano hit a go-ahead two-run double. This would have been his first double of the spring.

Estevan Florial, CF

The 26-year-old, whom the Guardians acquired earlier this offseason from the New York Yankees, reached base in both of his plate appearances.

After beginning the game with a leadoff walk, Florial hit a single in the top of the third inning, eventually scoring on Laureano’s two-run double in the ensuing at-bat.

Daniel Schneemann, 3B

The 27-year-old recorded what would have been his fifth hit of the spring in his only plate appearance of the game.

He hit a single with two outs in the bottom of the second inning.

Shane Bieber, RHP

The 2020 AL Cy Young Award winner pitched a productive two innings in his second start of the spring.

Bieber allowed two hits, one earned run, and one walk, while throwing four strikeouts. His lone run allowed came from an RBI double in the bottom of the second inning.

Up next, Cleveland will face the Chicago White Sox on Friday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. EST.
